Hep A Update. Volleyball. Hugh Hefner

Have you been following the outbreak of Hep A that we have going on in San Diego? It’s really a culmination of so many factors put together. Police not enforcing items downtown and the homeless population growing to numbers that we haven’t seen before.

Above is Mark Larson discussing what’s happening and what needs to be addressed.

Another video I’m posting is a discussion of the facts and myths of Hep A. Since 2006 we’ve made the vaccination mandatory by law in California.

As we’re getting into Octoberfest season and large gatherings – I just wonder about the safety and people not spreading it. It seems the best advice is washing your hands before and after meals and making sure not to put your fingers in your mouth.

Moving onto Volleyball…

_V9B7909

I went last evening to watch some volleyball. It’s tough to watch. I think it’ll be known as the season of what could have been. With two starters out due to grades – it sure makes the season difficult. What’s odd? Historically both the girls Cross Country and girls Volleyball have the highest cumulative GPA’s on campus. It was a joke while my son was running cross-country how many of the girls had higher than 4 GPA’s.

Makes me laugh – kinda. I mean you reach a point where all you can do is laugh.

Passing of Hugh Hefner

Yes – for you Hugh – Heaven might be a letdown.

Hey It’s Tuesday

A really fun interview with Jason Day and Phil Mickelson on the Dan Patrick Show talking about the upcoming Presidents Cup.  He also had a really good take on the protesting that is happening during the national anthem. Posting the video below

My take on it. The President was way out of line with calling some of these players ‘SOB’s’. He’s better than that. He needs to have a filter. The flag represents different things to different people – but it doesn’t make your feelings on it – correct.

You have the right to boo. You have the right to get angry. Also, people that say “I done with the NFL.” I’m not buying it. We’ll see these people watching games in another week or two. It’s all just a social media talking point.

The key. Peaceful demonstrations. They’re peaceful. Nothing is wrong then.

Lastly…

My wife is coming back to the good old US of A in another six days. I’m missing her a lot.

Donald Does it Again

Well, Donald Trump found a way to unify us. By making both the NFL and NBA players dislike him….

It all started with this…

But it makes me wonder. How can you be uninvited to something that you weren’t planning on going to anyway? Also – isn’t the whole uninvited thing something 4th graders do? Don’t adults just suck it up and make it through the event?

Kobe Bryant weighed in…

I think Steve Kerr had probably the best response to Donald Trump and the situation.

Then Donald went after the NFL…

The NFL Commissioner had his response…

Wife flies to Germany. Cubs win. Others Interests

It’s a lovely Friday morning and I’m up and writing and ‘killing time’.  It’s day one of my ‘Hall Pass’. This is the period that I’m calling my wife visiting her family in Germany. HaHa.

First evening with my wife on her plane wasn’t that interesting for me. I stayed home and watched ‘Gotham’ and baseball with my dogs.

My wife and step-daughter Lauren

I’m sure Daniela will have an excellent time. It’s more about visiting her mother and making sure everything is alright. Argh! Just thinking about that eleven-hour flight over there.

But my wife texted me at 2 am telling me that she arrived. So all is good in the world. I guess she’s even having Lauren drive her rental car as Lauren put this on her Instagram.

Cubs Win in 10

Cubs pulled out a victory in the tenth inning with a comeback in the 9th and the go-ahead in the 10th. Whew! It was a close game.

Saturday Night Live

Saturday Night Live announced their opening lineup for October. Surprise surprise – they want Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot.

Jimmy Kimmel on Health Care

He makes a lot of valid points. Well, I’m going to make it even easier. I’m sick and tired of our representatives making health care regulations that they themselves opt out of. No more of that. If you sign the bill and it becomes law – it applies to yourselves as well. Also – it’s not rocket science that if you allow states to opt out of the no maximum in health care that there is potential that they might. Then it becomes a step back from what we have now.

TO have a laugh….

Foo Fighters were on last night’s carpool karaoke. It’ll make you laugh.

Saturday Morning and we’re Off

First the Fun

Man-of-Steel-Superman-Resurrection

Matthew Vaugh has admitted now that he’s in talks to possibly be the new Superman 2 director. Yes! Very good news for comic book fans/Superhero fans.

Cubbies Get Hot after Pitcher gets Tossed

This all happened because of a questionable not called third strike where even the batter was walking to the dugout. It lead to both the pitcher and catcher getting tossed from the game but it sure did fire up the Cubs offense. Every game counts going in and the Cubs have a laster focus going on right now. Let us see if they can keep it up.

My Volleyball Experience

I photograph volleyball for about three months out of the year. It’s enjoyable to watch and it’s enjoyable to see these girls that put so much time in the offseason see the payoffs for their high school teams. So last Wednesday, I went to Christian High School who has a very nice gym and I was expecting this to be a decent experience. Boy was I wrong.  The young students who were in attendance who came after their basketball practice were just absolutely obnoxious. They’d chant ‘zing’ or ‘Nice ass # whomever’ when a Valhalla player was about to serve. They’d literally sit their with their buddies and do a countdown from 3-2-1 and then say their rudeness. I’m all for fan spirit and cheering for your own team but don’t show up for matches to just taunt the other team. What’s worse was some of the Christian High Volleyball players would laugh and giggle at them in the stands (probably friends of theirs) and they’d continue it.

Coaches, Campus Officers, Principals, or Athletic Director need to shut that stuff down. Students need to carry themselves with at least a minimal amount of class instead of looking like your gum on the bottom of my shoe.

Golf Notes

Saturday tournament today. I really wanted to play but I’m not wanting setbacks with my wrist. So not entirely pushing things yet.

giphy

On a different note, but still in the golf related world. It’s girls golf season. I witnessed a Helix vs Valhalla match. First hole. Helix girl is teeing off. The ball is teed up and she takes a swing and the ball comes completely off the tee and lands an inch to the side off the tee. Just a tiny bit short of a swing and a miss. The coach tells her it tee it up again. Now I wonder where do you draw the line between trying to have fun out there and being a complete dick with the rules with these girls?! Obviously, the club struck the ball so she needs to play it as it lies. She was given bad advice by her coach and it should be an instant loss of hole. I’m not sure how that match played out.

Bring on Wednesday

Jordan Spieth Throws First Pitch at Wrigley

A little kid wanted to meet Jordan Spieth and had his wish granted by the Cubs organization. Ironically he wanted to give Jordan a gift.

Ted Cruz

Did you hear that his twitter account liked a porn video? Now all the comedians have fodder for the next week. Some of the funniest comments about it. I’ll post below.

“Everyone watches porn, all right? It’s part of being a normal human being. Which is exactly why we know Ted Cruz didn’t do it. He’s pretending to like porn as a way to blend in with the rest of the human species. Nice try, Ted.” – Trevor Noah

“Someone discovered that Ted Cruz had liked a tweet from a porn account. Yeah, as you can imagine, that was one very embarrassing day for that porn account” – Conan O’Brien

For some Reason…

I’m normally not a fan of country. 90’s alternative rock in my thing. Give me Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, etc…

But for some reason, this country song from Thomas Rhett is sticking with me and I quite like it.

Golf with the Big Boys

I got out for some golf yesterday with Eric and Dylan. A lot of fun but more than anything I missed the walking out there. I hit some quality shots and also a few terrible ones. *shrugs* that’s golf.

One more thing….

Yes there was a big Apple Event and yes I’m going to cover it. I’ll probably have a full write-up tomorrow.

Bring on Sunday

Good morning everyone.

Ohio-State-Football-Stadium-Wallpaper

A good Saturday for college football was had. Ohio State lost in what was a good game. My friend Pete’s team at Oregon pulled out a victory. Back to  Ohio State. I think this is just what the team needed. I felt like they were a bit over ranked at the beginning of the season. But they take into account many factors like returning seniors, recruiting, injuries, etc. 2014 they lost their second game and then went on a tear the rest of the season. I’m not sure I’m seeing that with this team. I really hope that I’m wrong.

I’d be amiss if I didn’t mention the classless act at the end of the game as the Sooners were celebrating.

Lexi Thompson pulled out a victory over Lydia Ko. Nice to see her go head to head and come out victorious.

Funny Note.

My buddy Bob Madsen dropped his son off at Cal Poly yesterday. They were greeted by this on the streets. They might as well be screaming ,”Well done on giving us your hard earned money. Keep giving us more…”

HaHa.

iPhone Announcement Tuesday

Tuesday is the event. 10 am is the time. In the new Steve Jobs theater that just got finished where Apple spent almost $20,000 per seat. You enter this theater and take a stairway below ground and then you’re in an entirely underground theater environment. What an excellent tribute to the man that had the vision to bring us the IPhone.

I’m expecting an iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the gem – the iPhone X. The IPhone X may start at $1200. A $400 premium over the other phones because it supports wireless charging and has an entirely OLED screen. I think we’ll also see an Apple Watch with cellular connectivity and an AppleTV that does 4k.
