PGA Championship 2017

Well, it starts tomorrow for those that are golf fans. This, for this year, will be the last major of the year.  Rory McIlroy is the favorite based on how he won in 2010 and how he’s coming into form.

T5 at Firestone. All rounds under par.

Quail Hallow is a fun course during the year. Now, they’ve lengthened the course on a few holes and it’s really going to be a bombers paradise.  Rory is my pick but I have a feeling it’ll be any bomber that has an “on’ game. Dustin Johnson during today’s press conferences sounded very confident in his game – he’s another fellow to be reckoned with. Especially when he says that he’s driving it the best he has all year.

Anyone see Rory hitting the ball 300 yards in a space suit recently?

US Open and Doctor’s Visit

The US Open on Fox

While – yes – I have enjoyed the coverage. Some of the commentary is just completely silly. Azinger talking about how he doesn’t understand ‘Aimpoint’. That’s great but it’s your job to explain it to the viewer. Not just say ,”Hit the putt.” That’s not your job as a commentator.

Holly-Sonders-Most-Beautiful-Women-Golf-16

Also, Holly Sonders is being completely underutilized. Also to a point where I would find it insulting if I’m her. She should be an on the course commentator. Instead, you’ve got her stowed away doing one-minute segments every three hours or so. Why?!? That’s a waste of her talent and golf knowledge. Yes I’m sure Fox would love the ratings. But cmon.

Doctors Visit

I’m 40 in just under two weeks. So, my wife organized some blood work and check-ups beforehand. Maybe this was just her way of making me feel old. LOL. I love the first words out of my Doctor today….

“Forty is seriously just a number. The body doesn’t know it any different.”

I’m more concerned with this issue that I’ve been having when wearing contacts. After a few hours, I see this haze and my eyesight gets a bit blurry. I don’t think it’s ‘dry eye’. Maybe though?!? When I had an Optometry test they thought they saw something on my eye. So now I’m off to the next specialist in two weeks. The really odd part to me is when I wear my glasses that my eyesight is fully what it should be and I don’t see the haze or blurriness. Quite odd.

Classic Ernie Els

In classic Ernie Els fashion, he penalized himself after chipping in for eagle. He wasn’t sure if the ball was his – so he proceeded to mark it to identify it. Then claim the ball came out too well based on how he put it back.

“The ball came out too good,” Els told reporters after his round. “So I felt I didn’t quite probably put it exactly where I should have.”

“It’s one of those things. The game of golf is what it is,” Els said. “I know deep down the ball wasn’t quite where it should be, and you know, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself. So be it. It’s a five, and we move on.”

Day One of Member-Guest – Official

Member-Guest

Our Member-Guest is always something of fun. I enjoy the people. I enjoy the environment. But it’s the 2% that really drag the enjoyment out of it for me. The flip side of that coin is when I hear this –

“Man I shot 73 today. I haven’t done that in like six months. It was a long frickin time.”

You hear that coming from a 5-6 handicap player and it’s within the realm of reason. But when I start to see the higher handicapped and flighted teams – and they’re posting rounds of 53 and 56 even in a ‘Best Ball’ – I start to wonder.

Anyway – day two of the tournament is upon us. Time to get ready and head on out.

I’ll post more on this tonight.

Cubs and Golf

Thursday morning and it’s rise and shine. Another day to get rolling.

Cubs Get Hot

Chicago Cubs offense got fired up and they took two out of the three games in Pittsburgh. I was discussing this yesterday, it’s tough when a team loses their star player and even tougher when they lose their team to steroids. Out 80 games! Yikes! 14-3 is a lot of offense.

Golf the Last Few Days

I’m starting to prep for the Member-Guest tournament coming up. But more importantly, I think I talked my buddy Dillon to play in to play the Member-Guest with another friend of mine. It’ll be a nice addition. Below is a photo that I just posted to Instagram. Find Bob Madsen on Instagram.

Golf Funny Moment

Jason Day having a little bit of fun with his partner, Rickie Fowler, at the Zurich Classic. Day was talking about a team meeting that they were having to discuss their strategies for the tournament. Quick catch-up for you – Rickie Fowler has a new girlfriend.

Golf Weekend and Camera Review

Big weekend of lots of fun. Golf tournament round on Saturday and had some friends over for dinner in the evening. Lots of fun. Sunday played a round with my Member-Guest tournament partner.

So we’re in the hunt and in it. A lot of strokes we left out there. But more importantly, we had that competitive spirit and had fun.

Sunday Golf

I quite enjoyed it. Back tees which wasn’t what I was prepared for but with the course I normally play – it’s not so bad. 82 with again – lots of silly mistakes. More importantly though, I was able to upgrade to the Sony RX100 Mark V. Ebay gave me 90% of my initial purchase so I pulled the trigger and upgraded from my old one. First, off it’s blazing fast. Focus is really quick and with the nearly 30 frames per second – you literally will never miss a shot.

If you’re not sure of the camera – here’s a full review from a Trusted Source

Well, I took it out shooting for a round of golf. It’s faster than my DSLR in nearly 30 frames per second and also faster in autofocus. So if you have a baby, kids, or pets boy is this the camera that will capture everything. Also, a nice feature that has been around since the earlier Mark III, you can easily share all of the photos to your iPhone for sharing.
