Comey Interview

I file this under elections have consequences. What gets me and makes me laugh. Trump is all about being on the attack of Comey who served under both Republicans and Democrats. If Comey hadn’t put the information about the email investigation of Hillary Clinton there is a decent conversation to be had that we’d have a different conversation right now.

James Clapper makes some decent observations of his meetings with Trump while head of the Director of National Intelligence.

On a related note, I wanted to comment on this.

We spend more than the next top twenty countries combined. There has never been an instance where we haven’t had money to buy something for our defense. More than anything we have a bunch of wasteful spending with our military.  Sorry, Donald, but the answer isn’t to spend more.

My last comment. Why isn’t Donald Trump focused on the future and future election meddling by the Russians or any foreign entity? All the discussions are on the past.  We need to focus on the future. We have midterm elections coming.

Kelly to the Defense. Happy Friday

Kelly to the Defense

Interesting that he mentions ‘Joe Dunford’ as his casualty officer. He was my Battalion Commander at Camp Lejeune and was one hell of an officer. Though having a locked company officer made a bigger difference than a locked on Battalion Commander. I’ll explain more in the future.

My takeaway on Kelly. So what exactly is John Kelly defending? The statement that President Obama did not extend condolences to Mr. Kelly, which appears false, given that President Obama hosted Mr. Kelly at luncheon for parents whose children died in military service or the statement that President Trump made to the family of Sgt. Johnson. Or is Mr. Kelly defending the utter lack of preparedness that President Trump brings to every facet of his presidency, in which he refuses to be engaged and prepared before conducting the business of president, including consoling the families of fallen soldiers?

In any event, Mr. Kelly’s statements to do not seem to comprehend the fact that Mr. Trump’s comments to a Sgt. Johnson’s family were profoundly upsetting.

Cubs Lose

I saw this one coming. After the first half of their season I thought they might have some issues with kicking the offense into gear.

Congratulations to the new champions of the National League.

They still have a lot to be proud of….and so goes the plannning for what games we’re going to next year. Nope – still not going to see the Padres. HaHa.

Kirkland Ball Back….

KirklandSig-1021x580

The Costco Kirkland golf ball was back in stock for a day. Did you happen to be one of those few that logged in and was able to buy two dozen? *Cough* I was.

Few more days until Halloween…

Stranger Things comes out on Netflix soon.

Dear Donald:

Enough of denial. Enough of saying ‘fake media’. Enough of saying ‘it’s a witch hunt.’ Enough of saying ‘This’ is causing the country to be divided. No, it’s time to face the fire. Tell them to bring their best. Tell them you’ll cooperate and tell them anything they want to know. Tell them you want to stop talking about Russia and you want to move onto helping the people that voted for you. Democrats or Republicans – tell them to bring their best and you’ll cooperate and you want the truth.

Enough denials.

Happy Wednesday

Golf Yesterday

I played some golf yesterday and was trying to do some prep for the Member-Guest tournament that is this weekend. On my “prep” ball I shot an 81. I’m counting four shots that I’d never hit in a tournament. That being said – watch me on the day of the tournament count twelve strokes I could have cleaned up. HaHa.

On a good note – on 18 I asked my buddy Gary to take some video of myself and I hit the pin on 18. Tap in birdie.

So for my buddy Jem Doonan that jokes that there is never video of my swing – well here you go.

Comey Memo

It looks like Comey wrote a memo about a dinner that he had with Trump and wrote that Trump asked if he could see his way into “letting this go.”

Can Trump go one day without something blowing up in his face?

Here’s my advice for Mr. Trump. You need to stop thinking of yourself as a monarch and viewing things as you’re in control of the people. Instead, think of it as it’s your job to serve ‘ALL’ the people.

That is what public service is all about.

Health Care and a new Thermostat

Health Care

House Republicans passed a bill yesterday. Yep! They finally did it. What does it do? Well, it for starters reduces the tax burden that Obamacare put on the top 1% and gives it back to them. Some $833 billion dollars going back to the richest Americans. What’s the effect of that? Some twenty-four million people will lose their insurance. Not something you can brag about Republicans. I haven’t understood this President and this party for some time. How can you claim you’re the party of the religious right and not take care of your brother and the poor? Isn’t that within the very teachings of Jesus and the strongest message in the bible? It’s rhetorical. Of course, it is. Also – I find it deeply disturbing when even the American Medical Association doesn’t stand by it. AMA is doctors and care providers – the largest group in the USA – and they don’t support it.

Read their statement below:

We still have a long long way to go. A celebration is very early. You still need to have the bill to committee for adjustments in the Senate – voted on – and then back to committee in the House – and voted on again. Some members of the Senate have already said that the bill in its current form – won’t be voted on.

I think what I find most ridiculous to me. They didn’t even wait for it be scored by the Congressional Budget Office. Our representatives voted on it without even knowing the numbers of cost and how many will be affected.

Watch the video above and notice all of the constituents behind Trump. Those are people that in a year are going to be running for re-election and they’ll have to answer a very difficult question. Why did you strip my health insurance? Why did you choose not to take care of the weakest amongst us?

Anyone remember when Trump promised “insurance for everyone“? Twenty-four million isn’t everyone. Whoops!

Moving on…

Installed an Ecobee 3 Thermostat Yesterday

DSCF7425.0

It’s an intelligent thermostat with sensors for monitoring temperatures in rooms. But more importantly – it monitors movement in the rooms and then adjusts based on that. I’m ready for the savings $$. That being said we don’t use our AC but maybe a month a year.

What do I love best? It works with Siri and Alexa and works mobile. So if I’m at the movie theater – nobody at home – I can manually turn up the thermostat to conserve on electricity.

John Coleman. Conspiracy or Science?

I got challenged to do some research on John Coleman. Very well. Challenge accepted.

Coleman started his career in 1953 at WCIA in Champaign, Illinois, doing the early evening weather forecast and a local bandstand show called At The Hop while he was a student at University of Illinois. After receiving his journalism degree in 1957, he became the weather anchor for WCIA’s sister station WMBD-TV in Peoria, Illinois. Coleman was also a weather anchor for KETV in Omaha, WISN-TV in Milwaukee and then WBBM-TV and WLS-TV in Chicago.

Coleman became the original weathercaster on what was then the brand-new ABC network morning program, Good Morning America. He stayed seven years with this top-rated program anchored by David Hartman and Joan Lunden.

In 1981, he persuaded communications entrepreneur Frank Batten to help establish The Weather Channel, serving as TWC’s CEO and President during the start-up and its first year of operation. After being forced out of TWC,[5] Coleman became weather anchor at WCBS-TV in New York and then at WMAQ-TV in Chicago, before moving to Southern California to join the independent television station, KUSI-TV in San Diego, in what Coleman fondly calls “his retirement job.”[1] Coleman abruptly left KUSI while on vacation in April 2014, with no on-air farewell.

On CNN, Coleman claimed to be a scientist. He’s been a TV weatherman for over 60 years, but his degree is in journalism.

“The government puts out about $2.5m directly for climate research every year. It only gives that money to scientists who will produce scientific results that support the global warming hypothesis of the Democratic Party, or the position. So, they don’t have any choice. If you’re gonna get the money, you’ve gotta support their position. Therefore, 97% of the scientific reports publish support global warming.”

Which is just complete and utter non-sense. Grants are awarded before research is performed and before its conclusions are known. The 3% of contrarian climate scientists like Roy Spencer and Richard Lindzen have received millions of dollars in government research grants.

Trump is a Clown. But a Master Clown

It’s not often where I can say this. But I totally agree with this former CIA operative. We need to see Trump for what he is and what he isn’t. He’s just a very good manipulator and getting people to talk about what he doesn’t want people talking about. He knows the collusion with the Russians is an issue that will dog his entire presidency. So what does he do? Change the subject. Even if there isn’t even a shred of evidence to it – change the subject.

Wednesday Hump Day

Donald’s Speech

Donald was invited by congress to address the legislature. I dare say for the first time he actually looked Presidential. He sounded like the President of ‘All People’ not just those that voted for him. Words have meaning. If he’s true to those words – it could be the beginning of something.

If you’d like to fact-check his speech – it’s available here

Even staunch Democratic supporter Van Jones felt the same way

I’m also a big sap for military support moments.

Phil Mickelson Bit

Not very often that anyone gets an extended interview with Phil MIckelson. So I’ve quite enjoyed viewing these bits. Damn – he’s got quite the tan going on.

Final Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 Trailer

Say what you want about baby Groot. He might be my favorite addition to the group.
