Tiger Woods Looking Good

Tiger Woods Playing Well.

First round is over and he’s T8 at one under par. It’s looking good for him to make the weekend and maybe even be in competition for his first win since coming back from his back injury.

Of course,  it wasn’t without some trouble. And it’s excellent shots.

Phil Mickelson on Dan Patrick

An excellent interview with Phil and how his strength training program is what has lead him to be competitive and injury free. Dan Patrick was talking ‘bench press’ with him and Phil interestingly made a comment saying,”I would never do that. It’s all the pressure on my spine.”

Charles Barkley on DP

Excellent segment talking about the NCAA and college’s paying players. Charles makes a good point talking about how he took a loan from his agent to and it lead to him staying in college longer. But, the NCAA made $1 billion dollars last year. Granted that’s through ALL of its sports but it’s still a lot of money. Free educations is worth a lot and the vast overwhelming majority of these kids won’t be playing professional anything. Charles also makes some great points about NBA teams tanking and getting more ping-pong balls for possible draft picks.

Justice League Day

Justice League

I’m headed to the movies to see Justice League in 70mm. Highest quality negative with a minimal amount of crop applied to the film – but I always enjoy 70mm films. For camera buffs, it’s like watching medium format film.

I’m curious to see what the hidden content is at the end. It’s also going to be tough to avoid spoilers.

Titleist new AVX Ball

I had a good discussion about this yesterday. Have you heard of the new Titleist AVX ball? It’s a new release from Titleist in only three states – California, Arizona, and Florida. We also don’t know if this ball will be around in the future as Titleist has said that it’s a test ball. My conversation that I had? It seems to be a long ball for just about everyone. But what do you call it? I heard it called yesterday,”The Titleist Pro V1 AVX”. That sounds like an awfully long name. I think my buddy Pete will like them because finally, they have a top-tier premium ball that comes in yellow.

NBA’s One and Done

I hope we’re getting rid of it. It’s kind of made a mockery of college basketball. If you’re going to go to college and play hoops, then you should stick around and do so. These coaches in colleges need teams that they can count on.

Oh There you are Wednesday

Will Ferrell joins Dan Patrick

Also yesterday Reggie Miller was on talking about basketball. Definitely had some good takes…

Big Night for Democrats

I’ve never seen anyone with the stature of Chris Christie fall from being a State favorite so fast. Virginia was big. This is just the beginning with candidates running on Donald Trump’s unpopular approval rating. It’s hard to govern as President when you’re approval rating is steady at thirty-some percent. Democrats. I wouldn’t get cocky. You have your own problems coming up. You have to find a formidable candidate and then do your party a favor – revamp your entire selection process to make things legit and fair.

I’m posting this video on the back and forth with Chris Todd. I just enjoy seeing Corey all fired up.

Movie Moment….

I’ve always enjoyed this ‘Moneyball scene’. Especially relevant as a lot of teams are making moves to right their seasons from last year.

Lastly…..

Always good to get out for golf with the guys. Eric brought the comedy and Joel brought the banter. I just mix it up.

Happy Tuesday

Happy Tuesday

My wife’s home from the hospital with her outpatient surgery. Hopefully this will be the beginnings of her hearing better.

Bob Corker on Donald

I’m right with you Bob – Alert the daycare that he has his phone again.

Justice League Heating Up

Warner Bros is starting their press heat up for Justice League movie.

Lastly…

Joseph Dunford – the man who I served with professionally – was giving the public some answers. At least tell them that he will give the public some answers for Niger. Mainly – why the hell we were there? Why we left one of ours behind? Why did the White House recommend to the widow that she not view her husband’s body?

Hey It’s Tuesday

A really fun interview with Jason Day and Phil Mickelson on the Dan Patrick Show talking about the upcoming Presidents Cup.  He also had a really good take on the protesting that is happening during the national anthem. Posting the video below

My take on it. The President was way out of line with calling some of these players ‘SOB’s’. He’s better than that. He needs to have a filter. The flag represents different things to different people – but it doesn’t make your feelings on it – correct.

You have the right to boo. You have the right to get angry. Also, people that say “I done with the NFL.” I’m not buying it. We’ll see these people watching games in another week or two. It’s all just a social media talking point.

The key. Peaceful demonstrations. They’re peaceful. Nothing is wrong then.

Lastly…

My wife is coming back to the good old US of A in another six days. I’m missing her a lot.

Bring on the Morning Coffee

A great story and segment on Melissa Reid on the European LPGA tour. Give it a watch.

Dan Patrick with the UCLA Football Coach

In case you’re a little late to the party, UCLA’s quarterback Josh Rosen gave an interview to Bleacher Report discussing that student athletes don’t make enough or see enough help on campus.

A few moments later – Charles Barkey was on the third hour and had a completely different take on the events also he talks about the 25th anniversary of the Dream Team Golf medal.

Moving on…

Take some time and enjoy the sun. Enjoy those around you.

Dodgers. Possibly Something Special

The Dodgers

Many of the pieces are coming together. But, like Dan Patrick says above, the post season is a whole different animal. You can get by winning in the regular season and even win by huge margins but then you have to make sure the pressure of the playoffs and the World Series doesn’t get to you.

Hey it’s Thursday

DP on Football CTE

I think this should just be more alarming for parents. If your kid is already playing or you’re already a professional athlete – this is nothing new that is going to change your mind. Ninety-nine of one hundred that were tested were found to have CTE. That’s an extremely high rate. My take – our bodies and more specifically our skulls weren’t designed to withstand and take the combined impact speeds and trauma put on mind with the impacts of professional football. What’s the answer? I have no idea. It’s their choice and if they know the risks then let them play.

Kyrie Irving

Have you followed this going on in Cleveland? Kyrie believes that he can lead a team on his own. Kyrie believes he’s a franchise type player but can you do that when you’re in the shadow of someone like Lebron James? Give me a break. Kyrie needs to swallow his ego and do what his role is. Score some points and try and bring a (Another) championship to Cleveland.

Perhaps my favorite comment was about Stephen A Smith though….

Donald Trump bans Transgender Citizens from Serving

Did you forget that you said that Donald? You said you’d be better than Hillary Clinton on how these groups were treated. How’s that happening? My take. They fully have my support to serve. I served in an Infantry Unit with 2nd Battalion 6th Marines and I can tell you that anyone that wants to put themselves in harm’s way. I applaud them. I don’t care if they’re white, black, purple, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, gay, straight, or any other. They’re defending our values and putting their lives on the line for American citizens that they’ve never met. That’s the ultimate price.

Also on a slightly different nope. Why is the White House annoyed that a public disclosure form got released? Are you noticing the word I just used ‘PUBLIC’? Conservative Bill Kristol is spot on.

Late Friday and Early Saturday’s

Saturday morning. Off to finish the second round of the Eclectic golf tournament. First some stories that caught my interest.

SNL Producer has been responding to Donald Trump’s tweets as if they’re texts to him. I find it quite funny.

Star Wars Footage Released

It looks solid and I’m excited to see the direction that they’re headed. We need a new direction so that we have new possibilities for future movies.

Golf Today

Golf Today.

The round. Argh! It could have been better. My ball striking just seems a bit off. Also with my wrist feeling a bit out of whack – not painful – but something isn’t quite right. I’m hitting every shot almost 5-10 yards less than I usually am. Only near the end of the round today was I actually hitting my distances.

My buddy Doug, however, did play well.

Dan Patrick Passes on Katy Perry Video

Oh Dan. Oh Dan. What you thinking buddy? Opportunities like this don’t come along very often.
