Bring on the Morning Coffee

A great story and segment on Melissa Reid on the European LPGA tour. Give it a watch.

Dan Patrick with the UCLA Football Coach

In case you’re a little late to the party, UCLA’s quarterback Josh Rosen gave an interview to Bleacher Report discussing that student athletes don’t make enough or see enough help on campus.

A few moments later – Charles Barkey was on the third hour and had a completely different take on the events also he talks about the 25th anniversary of the Dream Team Golf medal.

Hey it’s Thursday

DP on Football CTE

I think this should just be more alarming for parents. If your kid is already playing or you’re already a professional athlete – this is nothing new that is going to change your mind. Ninety-nine of one hundred that were tested were found to have CTE. That’s an extremely high rate. My take – our bodies and more specifically our skulls weren’t designed to withstand and take the combined impact speeds and trauma put on mind with the impacts of professional football. What’s the answer? I have no idea. It’s their choice and if they know the risks then let them play.

Kyrie Irving

Have you followed this going on in Cleveland? Kyrie believes that he can lead a team on his own. Kyrie believes he’s a franchise type player but can you do that when you’re in the shadow of someone like Lebron James? Give me a break. Kyrie needs to swallow his ego and do what his role is. Score some points and try and bring a (Another) championship to Cleveland.

Perhaps my favorite comment was about Stephen A Smith though….

Donald Trump bans Transgender Citizens from Serving

Did you forget that you said that Donald? You said you’d be better than Hillary Clinton on how these groups were treated. How’s that happening? My take. They fully have my support to serve. I served in an Infantry Unit with 2nd Battalion 6th Marines and I can tell you that anyone that wants to put themselves in harm’s way. I applaud them. I don’t care if they’re white, black, purple, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, gay, straight, or any other. They’re defending our values and putting their lives on the line for American citizens that they’ve never met. That’s the ultimate price.

Also on a slightly different nope. Why is the White House annoyed that a public disclosure form got released? Are you noticing the word I just used ‘PUBLIC’? Conservative Bill Kristol is spot on.

Late Friday and Early Saturday’s

Star Wars Footage Released

It looks solid and I’m excited to see the direction that they’re headed. We need a new direction so that we have new possibilities for future movies.

Golf Today

Golf Today.

The round. Argh! It could have been better. My ball striking just seems a bit off. Also with my wrist feeling a bit out of whack – not painful – but something isn’t quite right. I’m hitting every shot almost 5-10 yards less than I usually am. Only near the end of the round today was I actually hitting my distances.

My buddy Doug, however, did play well.

Golf at Aviara. Birthdays of Yesterday. Ron Howard. Basketball One and Done.

Aviara

Yesterday the guys and I went off to Aviara to have a nice round of golf. Course was in excellent shape and the layout was nice. Even nicer, they had a blue-white combo tee sheet that allows for a mid-shorter to longer tee range. So that fit perfectly with the group.

After the round – a lot of guys that had a lot of fun.

My round. I was just tired from this week. Between doing some photography and golf practice, I was just beat this week. Creatively my mind was zonked.

But still – definitely a lot of fun and I highly enjoyed the course.

Today I’m 40

Well, like Dr. Fisher said last week at my physical. It’s just another number and the body doesn’t know any different.

What’s odd though. I was around for both my parents turning forty. I remember theirs. It just makes me reminisce a lot of times of yesterday.

Dan Patrick had a good take on college athletes playing one year and then done. Mostly referencing the NBA draft.

What an excellently done video with a lot of very valid points. We need to get back to the days of not being ignorant to what science is telling us. Science is our future.

Golf Yesterday

Graham, Pete, Gary and myself took off for a round of golf. 76 for myself was had. Nothing exciting. Definitely was a fairly boring round. But time with the guys is always enjoyable.

Doug Loses his Match

As I wrote in yesterday’s blog, I thought there was no chance of it happening. But alas it did. Five down at the turn and lost 4 down with three to play. I should have seen the writing on the wall when he once again showed up without enough time to warm-up. Oh well. After discussing it after my round yesterday, we came to the consensus that it’s much easier for a 15-20 handicap to get hot for a stretch and run away with a match than it is in the A & B flights. As long as he’s in the C-D flights, it’ll be something he has to deal with. You get a lot more players that used to be earlier in the year (12 handicaps) and now suddenly they’re 17. A lot easier to channel something from a year ago….or….c…h…e…a….t.
