Saturday at Torrey

What a Saturday

Saturday was loaded up from 5 am onto 11:30 pm yesterday. By the end of the day, I was just exhausted. It started with going to Torrey Pines (Farmers Open) with buddies Eric and Keith and Eric’s pal Jimmy. All of them together made for excellent company and you realize just how popular the sport of golf is. Torrey Pines always has a very big attendance and it’s highly enjoyable.

Some highlights of the round of golf that I watched:

My pick:

I think it’s Ryan Palmers time. Who – little known fact – is Mr. Palmer’s grandson. HaHa. See what I did there?

Tiger Makes Cut

Tiger Woods is onto the weekend largely due to this approach shot and an excellent lag putt.

My favorite shot was definitely his flop shot to save par. Huge!

Getting up and down 7 of 9 times. So much for those chipping yips.

I’m off to Torrey. Have a wonderful day everybody.

It was a beautiful day at Torrey Pines. Course played wet and slow but still a gorgeous day out. I’ll be going Sunday so lets hope for the course drying out.

New Justice League and Golf News

No politics this morning. Off to golf with some friends. But a few items that I wanted to hit on.

I’m very interested to see where we’re going with this. Many insiders are saying that the director finally got things right.

Golf News

Tiger made an announcement yesterday via his twitter. Is this the latest thing?

What was the decision?

Now does this include Taylormade Irons? The entire bag thru wedges? He retains his Scotty Cameron putter… I’d guess a yes on the latter.

Titleist New Pro V1 and Pro V1X

  • 2017 Pro V1: Lower Spinning, Lower Trajectory, Softer Feel
  • 2017 Pro V1x: Higher Spinning, Higher Trajectory, Firmer Feel

The benefits of the 2017 Pro V1 were obvious to PGA Tour player Jason Kokrak, who ranked No. 6 in driving distance on the PGA Tour in 2016 using the company’s Pro V1x golf ball. He’s also a highly effective driver of the golf ball, ranking No. 8 in the Tour’s Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee statistic.

In testing the 2017 golf balls, Kokrak found that he could hit the new Pro V1 as far the Pro V1x, Mahoney said. He preferred the Pro V1’s softer feel around the greens, however, because he thought it could help him improve his short-game touch. So he ended up making the switch to Pro V1.
